UNION A VENUE DAM MODIFICATIONS CONCEPTUAL ENGINEERING SCOPE OF WORK Professional engineering services have been provided under verbal authorization of Mr. David Walker, CWCB, to perform additional conceptual level engineering pertaining to modifications to the existing dam structure and river channel for boating safety of the South Platte River at the Union Avenue Dam seven miles downstream of Chatfield Reservoir. Items of authorized work are divided into Phase A work performed between July 27, 1988 and August 22, 1988, and Phase B work performed between August 23, 1988 and September 23, 1988. Specific work items are listed below: I. CONCEPTUAL DESIGN A. Phase A This phase encompasses the work authorized and performed prior to the August 22. 1988 meeting of interested governmental agencies. The services included: 1. Consultation with the CWCB defining and clarifying the project requirements. 2. Preparation of an array of alternate configurations fitting the criteria established in consultation with the CWCB. 3. Meetings and consultation with Urban Drainage and Flood Control District, City of Englewood. CWCB, City of Sheridan and the USACE concerning the prepared alternatives. 4. Modifications to the alternates based on input from the meetings. 5. Presentation of the alternates at a meeting of project sponsors and advisors for the selection of the final alternate and guidance in desired modifications to that alternate. B. Phase B This phase includes all work performed between the August 22, 1988 meeting and the September 23. 1988 presentation to the CWCB board as authorized. The services performed include: 1. Field instrument surveying of the South Platte River channel downstream of the Union A venue Dam structure for the determination of the extent of sedimentation. deposition. and channel degradation occurring post construction.
