Evans <br />ewes Director <br /> <br />DATE: July 19,2000 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Agenda Item lIb, July 24-25, 2000, Board Meeting- <br />Decision Support Systems - Water Supply Protection <br />RiverWare Acquisition Costs and Uses <br /> <br />Backe:round <br /> <br />At the last Board meeting, staff was requested to provide the Board information about <br />RiverWare, the costs associated with acquiring it and potential uses. <br /> <br />RiverWare was developed by the Center for Advance Decision Support for Water and <br />Environmental Systems (CADSWES), RiverWare development has been supported by <br />the U.S, Bureau of Reclamation (USBR), and others such as the Tennessee Valley <br />Authority and EPRI, since 1990 and adopted by the USBR has their standard reservoir <br />and river model. <br /> <br />RiverWare is a generalized reservoir and river model that can be adapted to model <br />conditions in any river basin, RiverWare is considered to be an object-oriented model, <br />with the data and rules for each objective contained in the object. Thus; it functions very <br />differently from our DSS, <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />1, Fees\Trainingl\Support <br /> <br />. Initial License Fee: <br /> <br />$ 7,500 for a single cpu license (! user, unlimited sessions) <br />$12,500 for a floating license, <br />Fee includes 1 person's attendance at an introductory , <br />course on simulation and 20 hours customer support, <br />$ 2,500 for a single cpu <br />Fee includes all upgrades, patches, etc, <br />$ 1,000 per person per class, All training classes are 3-days <br />in duration, Currently there are 3 training classes <br />(Simulation, Rule Based Operation, and Optimization), <br /> <br />.
