Trinidad Lake Operating Principles <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />This memo briefly updates the status of two ongoing projects in the Arkansas River Basin that staff <br />reported to the Board on at the January 1998 meeting. These agenda items are informational only <br />and no Board action is required, comments and questions can be discussed during the Board meeting <br />or addressed directly to staff at any time. <br /> <br />STATUS <br /> <br />1. Agenda Item 19a. Futnre Water And Storage Needs Assessment. <br />The CWCB has provided a $75,000 grant and technical assistance for this study to help municipal <br />and agricultural water users in the Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy District service area <br />identify future water demands, evaluate the adequacy of existing supplies and identify potential <br />cooperative solutions to meet projected needs. A status meeting was held on February 26, 1998 at <br />which the attached Progress Report No.2 and revised schedule were discussed. Due to some delays <br />in receiving comments from reviewers and background information from participants the project is <br />several months behind the original schedule, but a draft report is still expected by late June 1998. <br />It was the consensus of all participants that this minor adjustment in the schedule will result in an <br />improved final product and not reduce the usefulness of the study. <br /> <br />Initial preliminary information on District-wide population growth and water demands under several <br />plausible scenarios are presented in the following table. <br />
