The two-disc set is the culmina-
tion of more than four years of development and testing.
The program features the photography of National
Geographic photographer Jim Richardson, and is supported
by the United States Bureau of Reclamation (USBR),
Colorado State Historic Fund, Colorado Water Conservation
Board (CWCB) and the Nonpoint Source Management
Program.
Following the release of the Foundation's first interactive
CD-ROM project, "A Century of Seasons-Colorado's
Centennial Farms and Ranches", teachers were asked to
evaluate the material and indicate what materials they would
like to see developed in the future.
The response was overwhelmingly positive for material
on disc, and consistently teachers asked for material about
water. This past summer's drought conditions served to
underscore the need for water education.
The two-CD set is made up of five principle parts:
. A narrated interactive, photographic journey from the
headwaters of the Colorado River to its terminus.
. An extensive, teacher-developed Teacher's Guide.
. A complete K-12 water education curriculum.
. A CWCB developed interactive primer on water in
Colorado that was on display in the Colorado
Department of Natural Resources area at the
Colorado State Fair.
. Additional teacher resources including all of CFA's
previous water education materials.
Colorado State Supreme Court Justice Gregory Hobbs
introduces the photographic journey down the Colorado
River. This portion of the CD also includes extensive
Internet reference links, selected essays on water topics, a
timeline & overview of water history in Colorado, a profile
of each of the State's seven water districts 'and a glossary of
water terms
Featured essayists include: Justice Hobbs, Tom Cech
(Executive Director of Central Colorado Water Conservancy
District), Brian Werner & Lori Ozello (Northern Colorado
Water Conservancy District) and Lorrelta Lohman
(Nonpoint Source Pollution Information & Education
Coordinator.
Additional essay material was provided by the USBR,
CWCB and United States Geological Survey (USGS),
Colorado Water Resources Research Institute (CWRRI) and
the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The disc also features a game for young students and a
directory of water related web sites,
