RE: Scope of Work for "A River's Journey - Water in the West" CD ROM

The CD-ROM A River's Journey - Water in the West and accompanying teacher's guide
together form a tool for educators that uses current technology to develop an understanding
of water management, an awareness of the importance of this resource and explores issues
that the our society will be addressing as it manages or fails to manage our water resources,

The CD has several levels of material so it can be used by elementary, middle and high
school students, This material includes:
· A 'slide show' journey down the length of the Colorado River with captions, narration
and maps
· Summary text addressing water topics and issues as they are encountered in the
'slide show'
· Internet connectivity to water websites and resources
· Essay length text on selected water topics
· A re-distribution of the complete pre-school through 1 ih grade Waterwise Curricula
(an updated version of the Water Education Initiative CD) plus the Colorado Reader
issues on water and the Understanding Water Activity Book

The Colorado Foundation for Agriculture's objectives for this project are to
. develop an interactive CD ROM about water which will show how water supply systems
were built in Colorado;
. provide an educational resource for educating about the often invisible infrastructure of
dams, reservoirs, canals, water treatment facilities, etc,;
. show the link between water, agriculture, the citizens of the state and the importance of
water to Colorado; and
. show the issues and challenges facing managing this resource,
