<br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />June 15,2004 <br /> <br />TO: Governor's Water Availability Task Force <br /> <br />FROM: Wildlife Task Force <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Drought Update <br /> <br />AQUATIC UPDATE <br /> <br />The Aquatic Section of the Colorado Division of Wildlife (CDOW) continues to monitor the water <br />availability situation closely. Concerns are growing in light of the May 1 to June 14 lack of <br />precipitation. <br /> <br />The following are reports from those CDOW Aquatic and Hatchery Managers who have noted impacts: <br /> <br />Arkansas Basin Reservoirs <br /> <br />Lower Queens Lake - dry <br />Upper Queens Lake - very low, hand launch only <br />Two Buttes Res. - still dry <br />Holbrook Lake - expected to go dry later this summer if nothing improves <br />Flagler Res. - went dry this spring, public salvage <br />Prospect Lake - lack of water, is being drained, public salvage <br />Ramah Res. - dry <br />Monument Lake - still dry <br />Rosemont Res. - combination of drought and dam repairs, will be nearly drained, not stocking in <br />2004 <br />Palmer Lake - very low and can not be stocked (also not stocked in 2003). <br />John Martin - very low, some water still 15'. Anglers concerned about fish and salvage. No <br />sign yet of stressed fish. <br />Adobe Creek Res. - till very low (no winter water storage this year), boat launching difficult, <br />fishing ok <br />Nee Noshe Res.- Very low, water is divided into 2 separate lakes. The east portion is very <br />shallow. <br />Meredith Res. - Expected to go dry later this summer. <br /> <br />Platte Basin Reservoirs <br /> <br />Antero Res. remains dry <br />Tarryall Res. remains dry <br />Bonny Reservoir is continuing to decrease in water capacity, making boat access difficult <br />Prewitt Res. is only at 25% of capacity <br /> <br />l<ff <br />
