<br /> <br />PALISADE AND MESA COUNTY <br />IRRIGATION DISTRICT NEWS <br /> <br />CURRENT EVENTS IN THE GRAND VALLEY <br /> <br /> <br />Volume 4, No.1 <br /> <br />August 1991 <br /> <br /> <br />View showing 42-inch reinforced pipe being laid in the Stubb Ditch, <br /> <br />OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE CONTRACT <br />APPROVED BY SHAREHOLDERS <br /> <br />At a special election in January 1990, <br />the water users in both the Mesa County <br />Irrigation District (MCID) and Palisade <br />Irrigation District (PID) overwhelmingly <br />approved contracts providing for the <br />long-term operation, maintenance, and <br />replacement of salinity improvements in <br />each respective district. The contracts <br />allow the Secretary of the Interior <br />to reimburse the Districts for future <br /> <br />operation and maintenence (O&M) <br />costs that exceed the present O&M <br />costs, <br /> <br />After the O&M contracts were finalized, <br />the MCID, PID, and the Bureau of <br />Reclamation entered into a cooperative <br />agreement to allow the districts to <br />construct the private laterals served by <br />the Stubb and Price Ditches, <br /> <br />c_..~, <br />
