In late January 1991, MCID crews
began laying pipe in the Stubb Ditch
on the Curtis Talley place northeast
of Palisade. Since then, more than a
mile of the 42-inch reinforced concrete
pressure pipe has been insfalled,
Pipe installation includes removing
topsoil, excavating trenches, placing
and compacting backfill, installing
warning tape and tracer wire (used
to alert anyone digging), and then
replacing the topsoil.

Petition forms to have your lateral
improved are available at the Salinity
Business Office, 3254 F Road in Clifton,
The office is open 8 a.m. to 12 noon
and 1 p.m, to 5 p.m. Monday through
Friday,

CONSTRUCTION
SCHEDULE

After water was turned into the Stubb
Ditch, the crews moved to an isolated
area west of the 1-70 Business Loop
and installed three separate reaches of
27 -inch PVC pipe where irrigation water
delivery was not impacted,

Both irrigation districts are constructing
laterals as funds permit. (The Districts

are anticipating approximately three
times the amount of funding as they

November 1992, However, if additional
funds are available, construction may
start as early as January 1992,

SIGN-UP FOR LATERAL
IMPROVEMENT

The majority of lateral construction IS
done in the "off season" when water is
out of the canal. The lateral systems
are designed by the Resident Engineer
and the Irrigation Districts are respon-
sible for obtaining the rights-of-way
and providing construction crews,
The Irrigation Districts will also be
responsible for the operation and
maintenance of the system after
completion,

All PID and MCID water users are
eligible to have their laterals improved,
The only requirement is the completion
of a petition (available in the Salinity
Coordination Office) by all the water
