BUREAU OF lAND MANAGEMENT

~
In
~ transferring them to private ownership under their sale author-
.-j ities.

(2) Because of the small acreages of the many individual parcels of
BLM land in agricultur~l trespass and included as project service
area, withdrawals should be made only on the smallest aliquot
parts involved. No fUrther withdrawals are considered necessary.

(3) The proposed location of the Crookton Canal and laterals and the
centerline descriptions should be finalized and submitted by the
Bureau of Reclamation. If acceptable, they should be accommo-
dated by a right-of-way granted by BLM.

(4) BLM will determine the possible adverse effects on aesthetics
caused by the canal and service road construction upon submission
by the Bureau of Reclamation of the finalized centerline descrip-
tion.

(5) Prior to construction of the canal and road, the fOllowing should
be done: (1) The canal should be designed so as to allow unim-
peded crossing by big game; (2) BLM should identify the specific
access needs, legal and physical, as concerns roads along and
across the canal, and those needs should be discussed with Bureau
of Reclamation planners and designers.

(6) When the canal location is finalized, BLM district personnel
should determine if existing cadastral corners will be obliter-
ated by construction and determine the need for reference monu-
ments.

(7) Water cannot be appropriated by the Bureau of Reclamation on
lands which are not patented, and considerable surveying will
be required before patent can be issued by BLM. Cadastral sur-
vey needs should therefore be identified as soon as possible.
These needs, and the scheduling of them, should be related to
the project completion schedule to determine if surveying will
be a limiting factor. All surveying costs should be reimbursable.

64
