..

.'

~I

.

.,

~

..

4. From a study of the proposed plans of operation

.'.. G ·
~~~~for the 12-year period, 1930-1941, it appears that both reservoirs
will be suited to water recreation uses.
a. At Twin Lakes the water level will remain
fairly constant during the season of heaviest recreation use, but will
vary somewhat from year to year. The reservoir is located near main,
heavily traveled highways in a region of outstanding scenic beauty
where a very popular la~e already exists. Thus it is believed that
the area should provide an outlet for considerable recreation activity.
Moderate day use with more extensive overnight, week end and vacation
use is expected. The need for a lodge development, boating facili-
ties and summer homes can also be antici~ated, with possible demand
for group camping facilities since .the site is located within a region
attractive to these types of uses. The development of facilities for
these uses and activities appears justified at this time.
b. At Sugarloaf the water level will remain
fairly constant during July and August but some drawdown may be ex-
pected during September. Considerable variation in the elevation of
the water surface can be expected from year to year. This reservoir
lends itself to recreational development. It appears, however, to
have slightly less recreational value than Twin Lakes. Existing
Turquoise Lake, which lies within the proposed reservoir area, is
very popular.
The reser~ir site is conveniently located to Lead-
vi1le. It is scenically attractive. Some day use, with m~re ex-
tensive overnight, week end and vacation use is anticipated. There
are at present approximately 50 summer homes around existing Turquoise
.Lake. It appears that the majority if not all of these home sites
will be inundated when water is impounded by the new dam. For this
13
