<br />o <br /> <br />PREFACE <br /> <br />c} <br /> <br />N <br />-.J <br />~ <br />"""" <br /> <br />All States and Federal agencies represented on the <br />AWRBIAC, with the exception of the Federal Departments of Commerce <br />and Labor, participated in the Drainage Work Group which prepared <br />this section of the report. The Corps of Engineers was responsible <br />for coordination of the activities of the Work Group. <br /> <br />Data on soil types, inventory of wetlands, and local and <br />on-farm drainage costs and benefits were developed by the Soil <br />Conservation Service, Department of Agriculture. Data pertaining <br />to channel and major drainage improvements and other flood-control <br />features were developed by the Corps of Engineers, U. S. Army. The <br />Bureau of Reclamation, Department of the Interior, contributed <br />land classification data on lands studied in connection with poten- <br />tial irrigation projects. Federal and State fish and wildlife <br />agencies furnished data on the effects of the drainage plan on fish <br />and wildlife habitat. The Department of Health, Education and Wel- <br />fare contributed statements pertaining to the effect of drainage <br />proposals on mosquito problems. <br /> <br />iii <br />
