.

-10-
over a period of time the allotments themselves were sold to up-
stream farmers, until only the one Class D allotment previously
referred to, for 156 units, remains under the Bijou system. It
is owned by Henry J. "Rudy" Amen of 201 F Street, Lincoln,
Nebraska, and is "attached" to 156 acres owned by Amen in the
NW 1/4 of Sec. 13-3N-58W, Morgan County, Colorado. Amen leases
this allotment every year to farmers in the Loveland-Greeley area.
(2) The Riverside Irrigation District holds a Class C allot-
ment contract, entered into about 1938, for 6,000 units of C-BT
water. Due to transportation losses similar to those incurred
by the Bijou a110ttees (the Riverside headgate is located a few
miles upstream from Hardin) this water is rarely run to the River-
side system. Instead the Riverside Irrigation District leases
these rights on an annual basis to farmers in the Greeley-Loveland
area.

.

(3) The Bijou Irrigation Company originally acquired a
"Section 25" (now Section 26) Corporate allotment contract in
February of 1953', for 6,000 units of C-BT water. During recent
years the company has sold 5,000 units of this water and still
retains 1,000 units. In December of 1961 the Bijou Irrigation
Company sold 1,000 units of its allotment to the Left Hand Water
Supply Company (Niwot), 1,000 units to the Fort Collins-Loveland
Water District (Fort Collins), and 1,000 units to the Little
Thompson Valley Water District (Berthoud). In July of 1964 the
Bijou Irrigation Company sold 1,000 units to the City of Boulder,
and in February of 1965 another 1,000 units to the City of
Longmont. The remaining 1,000 units of C-BT water is rarely run
to the Bijou system because of high transit losses. Instead it

WQODWARD-CLVDf:-SHERARO AND ASSOOATES

i
