Habitat system used is Classification of Wetlands <br />and Deepwater Habitats of the United States by L. M. Cowardin, et aI, <br />FWS/OBS 79/31 December 1979. Tabulation of wetlands as induced or naturs1 <br />is provided in Appendix A. <br /> <br />Plants on the USFWS list of threatened and endangered species include <br />13 "Proposed Species", two "Candidate Species" plus three "State-Listed". <br />See Appendix A, page A-17. <br /> <br />, <br />"" <br /> <br />Recreation Resources <br /> <br />Recreation opportunities consist of hunting, photography, camping, <br />hiking, bird watching, and personal enjoyment of the aesthetics. The <br />natural beauty of the desert provides a pleasant contrast with the <br />irrigated cropland. Game birds are hunted during the regular season. <br />Limited cottontail rabbit hunting is also available. <br /> <br />The alternatives or levels of management under consideration for <br />salinity control will not have lasting adverse effects on the recreational <br />aspects for the area. <br /> <br />Social and Economic Characteristics <br /> <br />Population - The population of the subunit is about 1,150 and is <br />projected to reach about 1,500 within the next ten years.
