<br />~ ~ <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />~ <br />~ <br />~, <br />~~ <br /> <br />8 <br /> <br />He states also that the project would be operated <br />in accordance with these first three conditions. <br /> <br />Whenever the feasibility of operating Trinidad Reservoir <br />in accordance with the last two conditions has been <br /> <br />demonstrated, consideration will be given to the full <br /> <br />utilization of the irrigation capacity in accordance <br /> <br />with all five of the specified conditions. <br />In support of this statement, the District Engineer <br />cites operation studies of the Corps of Engineers and the <br />Bureau of Reclamation which indicate that the Trinidad <br /> <br />Reservoir would deplete the usable inflow to John Martin <br />Reservoir by an average of about 390 acre feet annually <br />with 190 acre feet and 200 acre feet of this total being <br /> <br />due to operation for flood control and irrigation <br />respectively. <br />The District Engineer recommends in the report: <br />a. That the recommendation contained in House Document <br /> <br />Numbered 387, 78th Congress, 2d Session, be withdrawn. <br />b. That (1) the Trinidad Reservoir Project on <br />Purgatoire River, Colorado, be constructed by the Corps <br />of Engineers with funds advanced by the United States; <br />(2) the Bureau of Reclamation maintain and operate the <br />project; (3) the United States contribute to the <br /> <br />maintenance and operation of the reservoir project, in <br /> <br />proportion to the storage allocated to flood control <br />
