It is furthermore stated that <br />the project would not result in the loss of coal as a <br />natural resource for the reason that the deposits would <br /> <br />not be damaged and would be available for future use. <br />With respect to hydro-electric power, the report <br />states that in view of irrigation demands regulation for <br />power would necessarily be a secondary operation. Such <br />secondary production would not justify the power installa- <br />tion costs at this time. The proposed project, however, <br />does not preclude the production of electric power at <br />some future time. <br /> <br />Although there would be an advantage to the City of <br />Trinidad to consolidate its water supply system, the <br />report states that it is doubtful that such a consolida- <br />tion of all its system could be accomplished at the <br />present time by utilization of storage behind the proposed <br />Trinidad dam. However, if deemed advisable in the future, <br />a small storage reserve could be made available, <br />Possible future use of the reservoir might be made for <br />development of synthetic liquid fuel production from coal. <br />In this regard, the report points out the possible conflict <br />between use of the available water supply for this purpose <br />and use for irrigation. <br /> <br />. <br />
