The channel improve- <br /> <br /> <br />ment alone was recommended as the most feasible plan for <br /> <br />flood control. <br /> <br />The subject review report was made in compliance with <br /> <br />a resolution adopted in March 1945, by the Co~~ittee on <br /> <br />Flood Control, House of Representatives, U.S., which <br /> <br />provided that the Board of Engineers for Rivers and <br /> <br />Harbors be requested to review the report on the <br /> <br />Purgatoire River with a view to determining whether any <br /> <br />modification of the recommendation contained therein <br /> <br />should be made at this time in order to provide flood <br /> <br />protection for Trinidad, Colorado; and at the same time <br />make more water readily available for agricultural and <br /> <br />indu3trial u.ses. <br /> <br />This review report was authorized by <br /> <br />the Chief of Engineers who approved a review of only the <br /> <br /> <br />upper part of the Purgatoire basin abo~e the nouth of <br /> <br />San Francisco Creek, and more particularly the vicinity of <br /> <br />Trinidad. <br /> <br />As a result of the review, the District Engineer, <br /> <br />Albuquerque District, Corps of Engineers, finds that the <br /> <br />Trinidad Reservoir Project, as propoccd in the review <br />report, is the most favorable plan of improvement <br />
