<br />e <br /> <br />8 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Assistance to Mexico in Rehabilitation Program <br /> <br />Point 7 of Minute No. 242 pro~des that: <br /> <br />"The United States will support efforts by Mexico to obtain appropriate <br />financing on favorable terms for the improvement and rehabilitation of the <br />Mexica1i Valley. The United States will also provide nonreimbursable <br />assistance on the basis mutually acceptable to both countries, exclusively <br />for those aspects of the Mexican rehabilitation program of the Mexica1i <br />Valley relating to the salinity problem, including tile drainage." <br /> <br />The Government of Mexico has not asked the United States for assistance in <br />obtaining financing for the improveme~~ and rehabilitation of the Mexica1i <br />Valley. Mexico has not proposed nonreimbursable assistance for those aspects <br />of the Mexican rehabilitation program relating to the salinity problems. The <br />Mexica1i Valley rehabilitation program was essentially complete at the end of <br />the calendar year 1977. <br /> <br />Acknowledgement <br /> <br />The full cooperation of the Department of the Interior and the U.S. Bureau of <br />Reclamation, which enabled compliance with the 1944 Treaty and the salinity <br />agreement with Mexico, as reported herein, is acknowledged with appreciation. <br /> <br />N~. 0~/, <br /> <br />I Narendra N.
