<br />e <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />The United States pumped from domestic, municipal, and irrigation wells <br />located within five miles of the boundary near San Luis the following <br />quantities: <br /> <br /> Thousands of <br />Year Acre-Feet Cubic Meters <br />1975 26,787 33,041 <br />1976 22,738 28,047 <br />1977 22,990 28,358 <br />1978 17,900 22,079 <br />1979 25,418 31,353 <br />1980 28,527 35,188 <br />1981 38,463 47,443 <br />1982 40,954 50,516 <br />1983 16,707 20,608 <br />1984 15,467 19,078 <br />1985 13,635 16,818 <br />1986 26,346 32,497 <br />1987 26,926 33,213 <br />1988 23,926 29,512 <br /> <br />The Commission is continuing, under Minute No. 242, its program for exchange <br />of groundwater data for the major groundwater basins lying partly in the <br />United States and partly in Mexico including the Colorado River delta area. <br />The objective of the exchange is to make available hydrologic, geologic and <br />water quality data in either country, to both Sections of the Commission to <br />enable evaluation of international ground water basins conditions. <br /> <br />New Developments <br /> <br />Point 6 of Minute No. 242 provides that: <br /> <br />"...The United States and Mexico shall consult with each other prior to <br />undertaking any new developments of either the surface or the groundwater <br />resources, or undertaking substantial modifications of present <br />developments, in its territory in the border area that might adversely <br />affect the other country." <br /> <br />During 1988 the U.S. Section provided to the Mexican Section information on 10 <br />U.S. Bureau of Reclamation drainage wells in the Yuma Valley. The information <br />included location, geological logs of pilot holes, depth, and casing <br />diamiter. Three of the wells will discharge into the Wel1ton Mohawk Main <br />Outlet Drain Extension. The remainder will discharge into the Colorado River. <br />
