Technical Studies

Two series of technical studies to identify the measurements, instru-

mentation, evaluation techniques, and other requirements of the

technical systems for causing incre~sed precipitation will be per-

formed as part of the Planning and Program Definition effort, ,The

first will be aligned to the experimental requirements during the

earlier program years, the second toward the operational aspects

during the final years of developing regional capabilities.

Technical Studies-- Experimental Requirements

Early technical studies will establish requirements for the Opera-

tional Adaptation and research projects to be undertaken, prepflre

equipment criteria, and establish operational plans and procedtlres

for the projects. Close review of technical publications will be

maintained and studies will be made of the effectiveness of past

technical activities and various options in equipment, instrumenta-

tion techniques, etc. New concepts, in addition to cloud seeding,

will be technically evaluated.
