It provides data on present water usage and problems <br /> <br />in the area within the framework of the national policy for the use <br /> <br />and developnent of water and related land resources which have been <br /> <br />adopted since the 1947 report was issued. The water supply available <br /> <br />to the area from local surface and underground sources has been <br /> <br />reexamined and reanalyzed on the basis of present conditions. <br /> <br />This report presents essentially the same plan as in the 1947 report. <br /> <br />Most project works have been redesigned in accordance with recent <br /> <br />engineering advancements, and all project costs have been reestimated <br /> <br />at July 1961 price levels. All project features have been actually <br /> <br />located in the field or designed on the basis of field data. Estimated <br /> <br />costs presented in this supplement are suitable for the purpose of <br /> <br />evaluating feasibility of the project under present conditions. <br /> <br />Plan of Development <br />The plan of development, as originally set forth in the 1947 report, <br /> <br />provides for the conveyance and delivery of Colorado River water <br /> <br />through the main project aqueduct system, extending from Lake Havasu <br /> <br />to the Central Arizona Project service area. In accordance with the <br /> <br />concepts outlined in the 1947 report, direct deliveries of Colorado <br /> <br />River water in central Arizona would, through water exchanges, also <br /> <br />permit additional water uses to be made in other areas. <br /> <br />6 <br />
