~
c")
C
M

All the basic project features included in the 1947 plan have been

('

retained, with the exception of those elements which have been accom-

c

plished by subsequent development or superseded by other improvements

which serve the same fUnctions. Glen Canyon Dam and Reservoir, now

under construction on the Colorado River, were not considered in the

1947 report to be in operation prior to the proposed Bridge Canyon Dam

and Reservoir. Because much of the Colorado River sediment load and

streamflow above Bridge Canyon Dam will be controlled by Glen Canyon

Dam and Reservoir, Bluff and Coconino Dams have been eliminated in

this supplement.

The present reanalysis confirms that the basic plan presented in the

1947 report is sound and can be used to evaluate the existing condi-

tions. However, the expansion of the populated area and improvements

in engineering technology have required a revision in the location and

design of some project features.

This supplement contemplates the sale of Colorado River import water

at a canalside delivery point. Any proposed distribution of specifiC

amounts of Colorado River water to specific areas would be premature

pending completion of more detailed service area studies which are

now in progressj thus, no attempt has been made in this 'report to

delineate water or lands. Even after completion of the project, a

water supply deficiency would continue to exist. It is essential,

therefore, that all water supplies be distributed in lined canals or

underground pipe systems as soon as practicable. It is anticipated

7
