<br /> <br />~ .' .. <br /> <br />0013J-t <br /> <br />Califorma and Nevada to determine the stratigraphy, structure, and <br />ecological history of the Quaternary deposits. <br /> <br />Two l5-minute quadrangles will be mapped geologically in the Burney <br />area, Califorma. In addition to the mapping, petrographic studies of the <br />volcanic rocks will be made. These studies will expand oUr knowledge of a <br />little known area. <br /> <br />The final report on the East Shasta copper district, California has <br />been sUbmitted for technical review. <br /> <br />A report "Geology and milleral resources of the Ivanpah quadrangle, <br />California and Nevada" by D. F. Hewett was publiShed as USGS Professional <br />Paper 275. <br /> <br />Reports elf the Jerome area and central Cochiae County i.n Arizona have <br />been completed and are being edited prior to publication in the Professional <br />Paper series. <br /> <br />The Geologic Division in cooperation with the Bureau of Indian Affairs <br />is preparing geologic maps of selected areas of highest fuels potential in <br />the Navajo Indian Reservation. These maps will aid in evaluating the oil, <br />gas, and coal reserves. <br /> <br />The long range study of Nevada ore depo si ts on a, coun ty-by-county <br />basis is continuing. Field work has been started in 'Mineral County. <br /> <br />A new geologic map at a scale of 1:250,000 of southwestern Utah is <br />'being prepared. It is scheduled for publication early in 1957. <br /> <br />Field work for the new geologic maps of ilrizolla and New Mexico is still <br />ill progress. <br /> <br />-17- <br />
