000688 .

.

Owens and Buzzard Creek Reservoirs constructed on Buzzard Creek to develop

the flows for irrigation and municipal and industrial use. The irrigation
supplies would be distributed through a group of project facilities, in-
cluding the Harrison, Brush Creek, and Colorado Canals, the Cheney lateral,

and a series of smaller laterals branching from the main canals. Muncipal

and industrial water would be made available for sale at the outlet works
of Buzzard Creek Reservoir, The project would provide a supplemental water
supply to 3,130 acres of land and a full supply to 6,340 acres and provide
3,000 acre-feet annually for M&I uses. The project would also provide bene-
fits to recreation and fish and wildlife.
Plan formulation studies, water supply studies, and agricultural
economic studies are continuing on the Bluestone project. Foundation
drilling recently completed for the offstream Parachute Dam showed the
left abutment to be unstable. Costs for blanketing the abutment were ex-
cessive so this feature has been eliminated from the plan of development.

Project goals will need to be modified, as an economic alternative to

Parachute Dam and Reservoir has not been found. A proposed feasibility

report is scheduled for completion at the end of FY 1968.

On the Grand Mesa project, plan formulation studies and water supply

studies are in progress. Preparation of a draft of the project lands and

drainage appendices is nearing completion. A proposed feasibility report

is scheduled for completion in F'i 1969.

Plan formulation studies and water supply studies are continuing on

the upper Gunnison project. Office tabulations in connection with the

project land classification are nearing completion. A proposed feasibility

report is scheduled for completion in F'i 1970.

8
