. -, .. ~ ,.
000683 .

.

Blue Mesa Reservoir on the Gunnison River, expected to receive

520,000 acre-feet of inflow during April-July, will reach an estimated

maximum storage of around 620,000 acre-feet at elevation 7,481 feet m.s.l.

or about 40 feet higher than at present. Power generation in the Blue Mesa

powerplant this fall and winter will lower the reservoir to make room for

next year's runoff.

Navajo Reservoir on the San Juan River will receive an estimated

April-July inflow of 420,000 acre-feet. The reservoir is being regulated

to accommodate repairs to the outlet works stilling basin schedulGdfor a

9-month period~beginning in mid-June. During this period while the water

outlet capacity is reduced, the reservoir will be held between elevations

5,980 and 5,990 feet. Outflow from the reservoir will remain at about

500 c.f.s. for the next year.

Fontenelle Reservoir on the Green River will be kept at a fairly low

level throughout the next 12 months during the concrete grouting of the

foundations and abutments and while necessary repairs to correct erosion

in the outlet works stilling basin are being made.

So far, April precipitation appears disappointing, and quite probably

the forecast may be somewhat lower than indicated.

','
GENERAL INVESTIGATIONS'

Feasibility Investigations
Preparation of the proposed feasibility report for th~Battlement Mesa

project is in progress. Completion of the report is anticipated before the

end of this fiscal year. Principal features of the project will be the

7
