According to the statement, the west portal of the tunnel will be approximately'f'our miles beyond "ny point preViously inain:,', tained by the county. The Commissioners feel that year-round main~ tenance should be part of the Fruitland Mesa Project and the respons- . ibility of the contraetor during ccnstruction. The County has adopted a resolution that the County will not maintain roads ror snow removal on limited traveled roads durillgthe winter months. The right-or-way .on the existing road is very minimal. In previous years, the county has ~ad problems with snow removal; pushing. down private land owner's . fences ,and the commissiollers feel the right-or way should be part or .the Fruitland Mesa Project, to widen and improve this road for the safe and adequate transportation of equipment that will'be used to excavate the tunnel. The county' has also adopted resolutions requiring that .any new roads builtin newly subdivided areas. will be the. 'rcspollsibility of the subdivider 01' the people improving the land. . Therefore,' the Commissioners feel any new ro"ds which must be built to serve any new, homes or services in the newly developed land should be a part o'f the Fruitland Mesa Pcoject.
