The deadline for filing each agency's strategic plan was <br />July I, 1997. Included in the Board folder is a copy of my letter requesting an extension to complete <br />the Colorado River Board's plan and obtain the Board's approval prior to submittal to the <br />appropriate agency. <br /> <br />1997-98 Budget Process - Su,pplemental Reporting <br /> <br />As part of approving the fiscal year 1998-99 budget, the Policy and Fiscal Committees of the <br />Assembly have imposed upon the Colorado River Board the requirement that it report quarterly on <br />the status and progress being made to live within California's Colorado River water allocation. The <br />Board's frrst progress report will be due to the Committee in October. <br /> <br />SB 206. Colorado River Board: Office <br /> <br />SB 206 introduced by Senator Ayala concerning the location of the Colorado River Board's <br />office has been passed as amended by the state Assembly's Local Government Committee and <br />placed on the consent calendar. <br /> <br />PROTECTION OF EXISTING RIGHTS <br /> <br />Colorado River Water Reoort <br /> <br />During May 1997, storage in the major Upper Basin reservoirs increased by 2,451,000 <br />acre-feet and storage in the Lower Basin reservoirs increased by 51,000 acre-feet. Total System <br />active storage at the end of May was 51.845 million acre-feet (maf), which is 0.923 mafmore than <br />one year ago. <br /> <br />June releases from Hoover, Davis, and Parker Dams averaged 16,980, 17,260 and 14,080 <br />cubic feet per second (cfs), respectively. Planned releases from those three dams for the month of <br />July are 15,240, 16,700, and 13,630 cfs, respectively. The July planned releases represent <br />downstream water requirements. <br />
