<br />000735 <br /> <br />I <br />I. <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br />WILDERNESS IN WYOMING WEEK <br /> <br />Whereas: <br /> <br />Wyoming is known for its scenic grandeur and open spaces, much of which <br />is included in National Forests, providing a variety of products and <br />opportunities for all citizens, and, <br /> <br />Whereas: <br /> <br />A system of Wilderness and Primitive Areas has been established on these <br />National Forests through the years by the Forest Service, U. S. Department <br />of Agriculture, for management of 2,376,000 acres of Wyoming <br />untrammeled by man, and <br /> <br />H <br />I <br /> <br />Whereas: <br /> <br />The need for wise use of our land and natural resources and the harvest of <br />forest products is increasing, yet the need of a growing population for <br />Wilderness and the experience it provides is also growing. <br /> <br />t <br />I <br />, <br /> <br />Now, therefore: I hereby proclaim this as a week of recognition for <br /> <br />National Forest Wilderness in Wyoming <br /> <br />il <br />II <br /> <br />and commend the Forest Service, U. S. Department of Agriculture, for pioneering the <br />establishment of the first National Forest Primitive Area half a century ago as part of a <br />balanced program of resource use, and I further urge the citizens of Wyoming to continue <br />their concern and interest in the use of Wyoming's natural resources, including its beauty <br />and solitude. <br /> <br />Stanley Hathaway <br />Governor of Wyoming <br />
