<br />OOJ734 <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br />WILDERNESS APPRECIATION WEEK IN COLORADO <br /> <br />Whereas: <br /> <br />Colorado is endowed with spacious National Forests of outstanding scenic <br />beauty and productivity, and, <br /> <br />Whereas: <br /> <br />The Forest Service, U. S. Department of Agriculture, has established <br />through the years a system of Wilderness and Primitive Areas on these <br />National Forests to manage 812,000 acres in the Colorado Rockies where <br />natural processes can proceed without interference by man, and, <br /> <br />" <br />H <br /> <br />Whereas: <br /> <br />The need and demand for Forest products and the wise use of our natural <br />resources is growing rapidly, while the need of all citizens for the <br />opportunity to experience Wilderness solitude and self-reliance is increasing <br />as well. <br /> <br />'. <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />Now, therefore; On this, the Fiftieth Anniversary of the establishment of the first National <br />Forest Primitive Area in 1924, I hereby proclaim the week of June 2,1974 <br />as <br /> <br />"I <br />, <br /> <br />Wilderness Appreciation Week in Colorado <br /> <br />, I <br /> <br />And commend the Forest Service, U. S.
