ALTERNATIVE 7
STORAGE OF LOWER
TRIBUT ARY FLOWS

This alternative considers reservoir
sites on East Bijou, West Bijou,
Muddy Creek and Wildcat Creek,
East Bijou and West Bijou Reservoirs
were each sized with a storage capac-
ity of approximately 9,000 acre, feet. A
reservoir with a total capacity of about
4,000 acre, feet was sized for Muddy
Creek. Storage in these three reser-
voirs would provide deliveries of an
estimated annual 1,550 acre-feet of
water, Wildcat Reservoir (Alternative
6) was resized with a total capacity of
22,000 acre-feet to store only flows
from Wildcat Creek. An estimated
1.550 acre-feet of water could be deli-
vered annually from Wildcat Reser-
VOiL Total deliveries from the four
reservoirs would be 3,100 acre-feet.

Evaluation

The market-valued outputs of this
alternative would be irrigation water.
Net annual economic benefits are esti-
mated to be $30.0 thousand, This
amounts to a 0,1 percent rate of return
on the required investment of $29
million.

The construction of any of these sma])
off-mainstem storage facilities would
probably cause short-term employ-
ment changes in the central plains
zone, especially during construction,
Government and services could be
temporarily taxed by the influx of con-
struction personnel.

None of these reservoirs has been
sized to provide flood control storage.
Over time, these tributary reservoirs
would tend to trap significant amounts
of sediment which would tend to
reduce available water storage capac-
ity if reservoir dredging were not
performed,

8

I ,,(
~ I
!-~~_rnL__
I JACKSON "~o BALZAC
RF~ ~"V .
ERSIO[ P ,
,(5, ' t:' )
<b~Clt.i.~~~ "WE L[O~).. 0..
E;~,:' <) ((' >-. fl "OOGA(
1 " /.
r \ ( z
\
rI-: .~ ~
:, If : ~UDDY c~~ J
~/ (7) 1.~7' , $1- \
l/1. !7,.i' 1\
I ~AS~ B,i~u f ( /
W~~1J~_(;d
( f

.

'1

r--'

"

t---
I
I
