<br />Operations <br /> <br /> <br />The peaceful majesty of Crystal Dam <br /> <br />Reservoirs <br /> <br />During the water year which ended <br />September 30, 1980, the Upper Colorado <br />River Basin yielded t3,810,OOO acre-feet, <br />or 115 percent of the long-time average. <br /> <br />Lake Powell filled for the first time on <br />June 22. 1980. Flaming Gorge, <br />Navajo. and Blue Mesa increased by <br />507,000 acre-feet. 191,000 acre-feet <br />and 27,000 acre-feet, respectively. <br /> <br />10 <br /> <br /> <br />~. <br /> <br />,~ <br /> <br /> <br />Scenic view of Flaming Gorge Lake. <br /> <br />Fontenelle in Wyoming filled as usual. <br />Morrow Point and Crystal reservoirs were <br />operated at full capacity nearly the entire <br />year <br /> <br />. <br /> <br /> <br />Glen Canyon Dam as both spillways are in <br />operation <br /> <br />Rivers <br /> <br />Higher than average relases were made <br />from Lake Powell in the spring and sum- <br />mer due to the expected filling of Lake <br />Powell. <br /> <br />Minimum releases from Glen Canyon Dam <br />maintained much greater than the usual <br />3,000 ft. 3/S during the recreation season <br />and greater than 1,000 ft, lis durit;l9 the <br />non-recreation season. Flows in the Green <br />River below Flaming Gorge Dam were <br />maintained greater than 800 ft. liS. <br />Gunnison river flows below the diversion <br />to the Gunnison tunnel were maintained <br />greater than 200 ft. J/s. <br /> <br />Reservoir releases were regulated <br />throughout the year to accomplish a <br />reasonable balance with the many pur- <br />poses and objectives for which the <br />features were constructed. <br />
