Techniques include aerial photo
interpretation of color infrared photography provided by NASA U-2 aircraft,
and digital analysis of NASA computer compatible tapes of Landsat satellite
data. A special technique merging the two processes was developed to increase
the diagnostic power and accuracy of the interpretation and classification of
wetland and cover types.
The project involves 38 USGS quadrangles. The final product is presented
in map and table form. The maps include a hand-drawn mylar overlay for each
quadrangle, displaying the final classification, and selected digital print maps
at the same scale. The tables show the acres per class by quadrangle, township,
and section.

-2-
