They are obligated to meet
the annual payments plus interest to the Federal Go\'ern.
ment, and will have to base the annual cost of Project
water to meet these payments. Applications for water
will be mailed out to potential customers early each year,
so allotments will be known in time for effective use that
year.

LAMAR REQUEST To JOIN D'STRICT

During the past two years the Board and Officials from
Lamar have been working on a request from the City of
Lamar to become a part of the Conservancy District.
A great deal of statistical data on cost, water require.
ments, and District obligations has been developed~ and
a final decision on this request is expected at Ihe January
18, 1968 meeting. During this same period, letters ha\'e
been received from a number of other cities and areas
seeking information on procedure to be followed to be.
come a part of the Conservancy District. These requests
indicate that the municipalities and areas are desirous of
benefiting from Project and other water which will be
a,'ailable through the Southeastern Colorado Water Con.
servancy District.

ARKANSAS VALLEY ECONO~IIC DEVELOP!\IEr\T STUDY

Five years ago, the District joined with the State of
Colorado, Division of Commerce and Developmellt~ and
several agencies of the Federal Government to develop
a comprehensive master plan for the Arkansas Valley.
The Directors and officials from the Bureau of Reclama.
tion were interested in factual information related to
future growth which could be used in projecting water
sales, both municipal and agriculture. The final draft of
this Study was presented to a large group of citizens
from throughout the Valley at a meeting in Pueblo, on
November IS, 1967. The Water Utilization Section com.
piled by Colorado State University will be of great value
to the District in its long-range planning.

o
o
w
Ul
(Q
~

.

"~',
h....r.,;:,
.~-?,:.

r,!,.,':,- .~...
;~.~}.~?~ I

,," "

OFFICERS

J, Sid Nichols, President
Ro)' D.
