The VOW maximum cost-share is $204,000. <br /> <br />~S'~~!1.S'~ <br /> <br />The Silll Luis Lake State Wildlife Area is located in the San Luis <br /> <br />V'Illey of south-central COlorado It is approximately 18 miles <br />northea'lt of Al8lDo'la, Colorado (Fig. I) . The VOW is in contr'ol of the <br />land by way of a perpetual right of way on 2054 acres from the State <br /> <br />Board of Land Commiss:ioners. The Sllt'i;'oullding lands are adminIster"ed by <br /> <br />the> State BOard of Land COI1IJ1lis'lioners (SBLC) with the exce.'tion of the <br /> <br />northeast bOl'der which is owned by Medano Ranches. <br /> <br />r.bl~19~1_f!~!~r~2 <br />The area .is ",lmo,;;t flat with drainage patterns :f)owirJI! f,om the <br /> <br />north into San Luis Lakes" The ten"aln is broken up by small <br /> <br />drainages and saud hUllUllocks. The sUlld hummocks an' vegetated and <br /> <br />relatively stable. The lip of tbe natural balJin that makes San Luis <br /> <br />Lake reaches 7,525 feet. The lowest point ia the bottom of San Luia <br /> <br />Lake, estimated at '7,509 feet. San Lub Creek and lllg Spr}ng Cre,ek are <br /> <br />the majol' drainages into the lake. <br /> <br />The soi1'l at'e sandy with SODle sandy-loam.. and are typical for the <br />gf.'ne,al area.
