<br />41 <br /> <br /> <br />000800 <br /> <br />Resources Research Act, and is represented on the State <br />Coordinating Group for Water and Related Land Resources <br />Planning. <br /> <br />The University of Iowa <br /> <br />Water and related land resource programs of the <br />University of Iowa include general and specific studies con- <br />ducted by the College of Engineering (particularly studies <br />undertaken by the Hydraulic Laboratory and the Department <br />of Hydraulics and Fluid Mechanics), the Agricultural Law Center <br />of the College of Law, and by other divisions of the University <br />with regard to related activities of particular disciplines <br />(economics, political science, medicine, etc.). The University <br />provides three members of the nine-member Iowa State Water <br />Resources Research Institute and is represented on the State <br />Coordinating Group for Water and Related Land Resources <br />Planning, <br /> <br />h, Iowa State Commerce Commission <br /> <br />The three member appointive Commission regulates <br />the underground storage of gas and construction, operati(m, <br />and maintenance of pipe lines for the transmission of gas, <br />gasoline, oils or motor fuels and/ or inflammable fluids so <br />as to protect the public safety and welfare in the use of any <br />waters or streams of any kind within the state. It also <br />regulates rates and service of water utilities pursuant to pro- <br />visions of a 1963 public utilities law, <br /> <br />i. The Iowa Development Commission <br /> <br />The planning, development, research and promotional <br />functions of the Commission are continuously working to <br />improve the utilization of Iowa resources, These include such <br />resources as power and water, transportation facilities, labor <br />force, banking and financing, preservation of historical and <br />scenic site, recreation, industrial and other land uses, <br /> <br />The Commission administers the Urban Planning <br />Assistance Program authorized under the Federal Housing Act <br />of 1954, as amended. <br />
