The third concept is essentially an alternative to the previously identified

plan for diverting excess Flows from the state of ,~rkansas across northern

Texas into the High Plains. This new concept would divert Arkansas water
across Oklahoma into the High Plains (Route 5). Previous studies have identi-

fied potential intrastate routes across Oklahoma.lQ/

This third concept

generally follows one of those intrastate routes and could easily be modified

to include the transfer of excess eastern Oklahoma water to the western areas

of the State. This concept is discussed in Appendix C.

SELECTION OF ALTERNATIVES FOR CONTINUED STUDY

The six alternatives were presented to the High Plaiqs Study Council with the

recommendat ion tha t the number of a lternat i ve trans Fer rou tes be reduced to

Four.
