What are the ranges of reservoir sizes that are practical?
5, What methods can be used to enlarge Lake Meredith? and
6, What are the costs and impacts of the various reservoir sizes?

A. EXISTING DELIVERY SYSTEM EVALUATION AND FINDINGS

On March 24, 1998, URSG and Colorado Canal staff conducted a site visit of the
Colorado Canal, Lake Henry, Lake Meredith and Lake Meredith Outlet Canal to
review general facility conditions, and possible constraints and opportUnities to
enlarging Lake Meredith, The Colorado Canal to the Sugar Flume is rated for
750 to 800 cfs, To date, there has been no overall hydraulic review of the canal's
capacity and no hydrologic review of drainages that discharge into the Canal. The
most recent hydraulic reviews have centered on the Canal's appurtenances and
measuring devices, In general, the existing Colorado Canal/Lake Meredith
delivery and storage system is in overall good condition based on its current mode
of operation and the amounts of annual delivery and releases, The following
findings and recommendations should be implemented to identify constraints and
opportunities for increased water deliveries and releases,

1. COLORADO CANAL

. A hydrologic and hydraulic review of the entire delivery system should be
conducted to better determine operational constraints and opportUnities.
. Conduct a feasibility study on installing a sedimentation basin that IS
similar to the CF&I facility on the Arkansas River in Florence, Colorado.
. Review bank stabilization requirements on several side channel laterals.
. Further investigate the Bob Creek Delivery System and the potential for
changing the delivery system alignment (i,e, reroute through field drain
channels back to Lake Meredith) based on the selected reservoir capacity
and corresponding high water level.

URS Greiner

Page 2
