.

COZ'i3v

(6) Develop Phase la Model (75% SW use)
was completed.
(7) Develop Phase Ib Model (100% SW
Use) was completed.
(8) Develop Phase Ic Model (100% SW and
GW use) and Develop Rim Inflows is
approx. 92 % complete.

.

.

Consumptive Use and Water

Budget Component Progress since the
last newsletter and AC meeting is as follows (the
number in parentheses refers to the contract
Task):
. (I) Irrigated Lands Assessment is approx.
95% complete. Meetings were held with
water users in Antonito and Monte Vista to
review irrigated acreage estimates. Approx.
30 individual ditch company review
meetings were performed and coverages
revised accordingly.
. (2 and 3) Enhance StateCU, Determine Unit
Potential CU and Estimate Historic Crop
CU is approx. 85% complete. An approach
to estimate historic pumping has been
developed based on a ditch's primary water
supply (SW or GW), the consumptive
irrigation water requirement, surface
diversion records, well data, sprinkler data,
and system efficiencies.

Relational System Integration

Component Progress since the last
newsletter and AC meeting is follows (the
number in parentheses refers to the contract
Task):
. (2) Database design issues related to well
and ground water data are complete. [n
addition, the database population is
complete and includes such items as
streamflow, climate, diversions, water
rights, etc.
. (3 & 8) Software enhancements required to
accommodate daily data and wells are 90%
complete. The development of a ground
water query screen that allows water level
data, pumping test information and historic
pumping records to be viewed is nearly
complete.

D:\ WlRioGrandelAdvisory\News000524.doc

.

. (9) A simpler data-viewing program called
State View has been developed, The
application is similar to what is available via
the WWW, but it has the capability to access
a database that resides on a local PC rather
than a central database located in Denver.
This application is well suited to users who
have a need for relatively large quantities of
hydrologic data and/or have a relatively
slow internet connection.

Spatial System Integration

Component Progress since the last
newsletter and AC meeting is as follows:

. (1) Acquire GIS Coverages is complete.
Approx. nineteen coverages are now
available via the WWW.
. (2) Well File Analysis, a program required
to identify unique, large capacity wells by
comparing information in both the well
permit and water right data files is complete.
. (3) Ground Water Model System Integration
is approx. 95% complete. This includes
miscellaneous activities related to
developing a data-centered, GIS-based
ground water model.
Other RGDSS Activities [n addition
to the consultant activities described above, other
progress since the last newsletter and AC
meeting is follows:

. The USGS continued to perform
geophysical logging on the RG WCD's
existing con fined. observation well network.

. Technical me.etings on con~umptive use,
surface water modeling, well construction
and ground water modeling were conducted
in Alamosa from January I I - 13,2000.

Additional Information For additional
information regarding RGDSS, see our web site or
contact Ray Bennett, RGDSS Project Manager at one
of the following:
.
