<br />of ths Board that .xisting improv.....nte are inad.quate and that moat flood
<br />damag.e Wi thin the town of Craig can b. prev.nted at . coat fully ju.tified
<br />by the anticipat.d b.n.fita. I, therefore, r.comn.nd ths adoption of..
<br />flood control proj.ct consiating of chalUl.l rectification and l.v... on
<br />Fortifioation Creek at Craig, Colorado, generally in acoordanoe With the
<br />plan of the diatrict .ngin..r and With such modifications th.reof as in the
<br />discretion of ths Chi.f of Engins.rs may be advisabl., at an .stimat.d
<br />cost to the Unit.d Stat.a of $225,000 for conatruction subj.ct to the con-
<br />dition that prior to oonstruction responsible local interests give aSsur-
<br />snc.s aatiefactory to the Secretary of the Anqy that thay w.l.ll, (1) pro-
<br />vide without coat to the United States all lands, easements, and righte-
<br />of-viay neoessary for the construction of the project, undertake at their
<br />expense all utility revisions and relocations required, and replace an
<br />.xisting etock bridge w.l.th on. of adequate cl.ar apan; (2) maintain and
<br />operate all the lIOrks after completion in acoordance with regulations
<br />preacrib.d by the Secr.tary of the Arnv; (3) maintain the flood control
<br />chann.l fre. from .ncroachment; (4) hold and .ave the Unit.d Stat.s free
<br />from damag.s due to the construction work.t and (5) adjust all ""tel'-
<br />rights claimS that may result from op.ration of the improvem.nt and pel'-
<br />tom any work necessi toted by the effect of flood control on stream. regi-
<br />men.
