ptIIIlled fran the PRl?U and delivered upstream of M:>relos Dam as a substitute

for an equal anv:mnt of drainage water that would be bypassed down the By-

Pass Drain. The quality of the ptIIIlled water (1,500 p/m) would be better

than Wellton-M:>hawlt drainage, but poorer than Colorado River water. The

plan would require construction of a pipeline and punping plant to deliver
water to the Colorado River. The annualized cost of this plan includes

reduced production fran the YDP, capitaJ. cost of the pipeline and punping

system, and annual punping cost. Reject stream requirerrent.s would be about

31,200 acre-feet per year. The estimated cost would be about $36.7 million

annually.

Advantages:

o Possible use for lower quality ground water.

Disadvantages:

o M:>re costly than operating the YDP.

o PaztiaJ. solution, must be used with other plans.

o Requires water right fran Arizona.

o SaJ.inity higher than in the Colorado River - other plans would need

to make up the difference for saJ.inity differentiaJ..
