The Yuma Projects Office will
examine these options. These options will also be examined and

i..nq:>lenented, as awropriate, even if other sources of water are developed

that rech.1ce the need for the plant. The following is a discussion of

possible internal IOOdifications to the plant or its operation. Afpraisal

level estimates developed for the options for both internal IOOdifications

and for alternative sources of repla<::em3Ilt water are provided as

attachrrents to this cIocurrent.

'1=b:t,C1e (";:!o!Qe

For carparison pw:poses, between the various alternatives, a base case was

developed. This base case would be typified by Case 6, in Table 2. Under

this case the plant is operated at capacity for 330 days during the year.

The remaining period is ch1e to either outages of the canal carrying the

Wellton-M:>hawl< return flows or planned or unplanned outages of the YDP.

The salinity arriving at Inperial Dam for this case is 830 p/rn. Of the

110,000 acre feet of Wellton-M:>hawl< return flows, 105,000 acre feet are

diverted into the yeP ..mich produces 74,000 acre feet of product water and

31,000 acre feet of reject stream flow. The remaining 5,000 acre feet of

untreated Wellton ~ return flows is diverted into the Colorado River

as blend flow. This would provide a salinity differential between 1nperial

Darn and NIB of 116 p/rn.

jDn Li) H!4J Z F,t t~ ~ \!
1\ l;"'" ~ !oi ";;.- '4 ~~, ~ :.
