ThIs happened wilen the river
was running high. There was a leak In the river bank. It was
reported and was never taken care of.
Also, what concerns me is that 01\ the river bank IIOIIIeOIle
piled cement blocks, rock and barbed wire. In cue of an
emergency, no one is able to get the three wheelers 01\ the
bank to check for leaks.
We talked to a couple of commissioners to get IIOIIIe belp
and sand bags, and aU they aaid was, "Sorry, there !soothing
I can do."
Shortly after we got sand begs, It was too late and we were
under water by then.

We would like to thank Leroy and Bob Teem, Roy Nelson
and Melvin Gallardo for donating their equipment and lime
in helping pwnp out the water.
Also, thanks to Sheriff [James] Drury for spending his
lime taking care of things. TIIanb to the Early Iron Car
Club, surrounding neighbors and citizens around Alamosa
for their time and effort in filling sand begs.
In my opinion, East Alamosa should get a little more at-
tention then it has in the pest.
Darlene Gallardo
Mr. aDd Mrs. Bollllle Gallardo

Letter Policy

~r~ 1 \~
I

The Courier encourages letters to the editor.
