Implementation Activities. <br /> <br />N <br />CO The major USDA efforts ~lere directed towards i.nitiating the new Cnfarm CRSC <br />~ Program in the Uinta Basin and. Grand Valley. This was in addition to <br />CJ continuing the ongoing ACP salinity control activities. <br /> <br />1. New requests for CRSC program participants are: <br /> <br />Uinta Basin - <br />Grand Valley - <br /> <br />56 participants for an estimated cost of $4 million. <br />47 participants for an estimated cost of $3 million. <br /> <br />2. On July 2, 1987, nine (9) contracts for $568,000 of federal cost-shares ln <br />the Uinta Basin were signed at the First Contract Signing Ceremony in <br />Roosevelt, Utah. For the year, twelve (12) contracts were signed ror $604,622. <br /> <br />3. Grand Valley CRSC contracts were signed with three (3) participants for <br />$172,000 of federal cost-shares. <br /> <br />4. Total salinity reduction accomplishments for 1987 are as follows: <br /> <br />Uinta Basin <br />Grand Valley <br /> <br />25,307 tons <br />35,157 tons <br /> <br />5. A special SCS Biology Workshop for project field personnel was conducted <br />September 22-24, 1987 in Grand Junction, Colorado. The workshop focused on <br />the various methods, technique-s, and practices which cons~rvationists and CRSC <br />participants could use to voluntarily replace or enhance wildlife habitat <br />values. <br /> <br />6. A ilR/SCS Interim Guide for Monitoring and Evaluating Salinity Control <br />projects was published. The guide book is intended for field personnel <br />involved with developing project level monitoring and evaluation plans. <br /> <br />7. As a result of cost-share expenditures paid under the new CRSC program, a <br />Basiq Fund Repayment debt has been incurred. At total of $109,007 were <br />expended resulting in a $27,796 repayment obligation for the Lower BAsin <br />development funas and $4,906 reimbursement debt for the Upper BAsin <br />development fund. <br /> <br />8. A post-evaluation of the Wellton-Mohawk (Title I) project indicates that <br />$29 million of federal assistance were provided to 366 contract participants <br />treating 48,000 acres. The average cost was about $73 per,acre and the <br />average annual benefit was about $193 per acre for a benefit to cost ratio of <br />about 2.7:1. <br />
