~' .

,

.

.

In making the studies, the historic South Platte River

daily discharge and irrigation diversions during the irrigation

season for the years 1952 to 1957 inclusive were studied to determine

the exchange potential as follows:

A. The Narrows Site up to Bijou and Riverside Ditches -
Historic Conditions.

B. Weld County Site up to the Burlington Ditch - Historic
Conditions.

C. The Narrows Site up to the Burlington Ditch - Historic
Conditions.

D. As affected by additional water. under 1990 conditions.

The daily direct diversions to irrigation and to storage

during the irrigation season were taken from the Water Commissioners'

records in the State Engineer's office, except that daily records of

water diverted into storage in the Burlington Ditch system during

the period of studies were obtained from the Farmers Reservoir and

Irrigation Company. The District Water Con~issioners were inter-

viewed to learn how the river was operated and to clarify the points

of diversions of many of the decreed rights Which had been trans-

ferred. Denver's sewage outflow was obtained from the City of Denver

and added to the recorded flow at the Denver gage. The recorded

stream flow records at all stream gages, when appropriate, were ad-

justed for reservoir water passing the gages for delivery to a down-

stream irrigation system. Thus. only river water was considered as

available for exchange.

- 3 -
