Mr. Harry Cedergren also has extensive experience <br /> <br /> <br />in earth dam design and literally "wrote the book" on seepage analysis. The <br /> <br /> <br />proposed approach was used in performing the Narrows Flood Study with very <br /> <br /> <br />good results. <br /> <br />.-, <br /> <br />OBJECTIVE OF STUDY <br /> <br />On the basis of the information you have given us, the discussion held <br /> <br /> <br />in your office, and the problems involved, we understand the objectives of <br /> <br /> <br />this study to be as follows: <br /> <br />1. To review and evaluate the Bureau of Reclamation's (USBR) <br />data and studies on the foundations and preliminary <br />embankment designs of the proposed Narrows dam, with <br />particular emphasis on conditions at the right abutment. <br /> <br />2. To review and interpret the USBR's "Independent Panel of <br />Experts" report On the proposed Narrows dam. <br /> <br />3. To give our professional opinion, based on the review and <br />evaluation of 1. and 2. above as to whether... <br /> <br />a. the foundation of the proposed Narrm,s dam will <br />safely withstand the contemplated loads and forces. <br /> <br />b. there are suitable construction materials available <br />of sufficient quality and quantity to build the <br />proposed embankment. <br />
