Compatibility <br />with other surface uses was stressed. Sensitivities <br />related to the many corridor battles fought and continuing <br />in that area. Conditionally supportive of AQUATRAIN. <br /> <br />Pioche, Nevada (lincoln County) - Majority of land in <br />BlM ownership. Area severely depressed with mining slowdown. <br />Sensitivities related to local grazing rights and mining <br />claims. Supportive of AQUATRAIN. <br /> <br />Ely, Nevada (White Pine County) - White Pine Power Project <br />participants have done an excellent job coordinating <br />with and involving the public. Area experiencing ups <br />and downs with mining activities in flux. Sensitivities <br />to rangeland, agriculture, recreation and scenic values, <br />air and water quality impacts of new developments. Possible <br />interest in transporting area commodities to coast in <br />AQUATRAIN. Supportive of AQUATRAIN. <br /> <br />Revised (quarterly) briefing package to printer. Distribution <br />scheduled in late September. <br /> <br />Slide show script in revision and progressing. <br /> <br />Attended August 24 meeting in lower Missouri Region regarding <br />augmentation water sources for Glenwood-Dotsero Springs <br />diversions. Non-firm water may be available from Green <br />Mountain Reservoir. <br /> <br />7.2 ANTICIPATED SEPTEMBER EVENTS <br /> <br />Discussions with City of North Las Vegas, Nellis Air Force <br />Base, and Clark County, September 18-21. <br /> <br />5 <br />
