Waters of the Purgatoire River shall be stored by the District in the irrigation <br />capacity (initially about 59,000 acre-feet) of Trinidad Reservoir under rights created under <br />Colorado law; said rights, defined as the District storage right, include: <br /> <br />(a) The Model storage right, being the right to store 20,000 acre-feet of water <br />from the flows of the Purgatoire River, under reservoir priority No. 10 in Water District No. 19 at <br />a rate of flow not exceeding 700 cubic feH per second of time under date of appropriation of <br />January 22, 1908, as decreed by the District Court of Las Animas County, Colorado, on January <br />12, 1925, and by Decree in Civil Action No. 19793, District Court, Las Animas County, <br />Colorado, of April 15, 1965, transferred from the place of storage as originally decreed to the site <br />of the reservoir; and <br /> <br />(b) Such other I ights to store water in the reservoir as the District may lawfully <br />acquire by appropriation or purchase, including the right to store winter water under the direct <br />flow rights, (appropriation dates as listed). <br /> <br />B. Limits of Land and Water Use <br /> <br />In order that the Trinidad Dam alld Reservoir Project may provide an optimum beneficial <br />use of water for irrigation and M & I use within the District, the following limitations on land and <br />water use shall apply: <br /> <br />I. The acreage irrigated by tile District water supply shall be limited to 19,499 acres <br />ofirrigable land lying within the District boundaries.
