.

10

Secretary Hoover:
You have before you Table A provided by the Reclamation
Service and Revised Tables Band C provided by the Committee On
Water Requirements. (supplied to audience for reference, .
Commissioners have these tables before them).
The Committee on Water Requirements reports that a total of
14,264,500 acre-feet will be required for present and future
consumptive use of irrigation water in the seven basin states. Adding
3,280,000 acre-feet of water to be supplied for irrigation in Mexico -
this equals a total of 17,664,500 acre-feet of demand annually for
consumptive use.
In terms of annual supply - the reports of the U.S. Geological
Survey for the years 1902-1920 show an annual average of 17.3
million acre-feet of water in the Colorado River at the Yuma, Arizona
gauging station.

.

Mr. Stephen B. Davis:
Based on these findings, I respectfully submit the following
proposition: (1) that all states waive their priorities for use of water in
the Colorado River, (2) that a permanent Commission be established,
known as the Colorado River Commission, and (3) the Commission
shall have power to authorize the states to irrigate additional acreage,
so long as there is no injury to the existing irrigated acreage in each
state.

Secretary Hoover:

I ask for your vote on this proposition.

Arizona? yes
California? yes
Wyoming? yes
Nevada? yes
New Mexico yes
Colorado no
.
