.

civil engineering, and electrical engineering. This group had the

responsibility of developing a study plan, outlining a public involve-

tv
W ment program, analyzing and evaluating the myriad "feasible" plans
o
C,..) for reject stream replacement, and making recommendations as to

which of those plans would merit further consideration.

The 11 plans which the team initially concluded as having

potential to replace the water lost to the desalting plant reject stream

included canal lining, desalting ocean water, a desalting plant in the

Imperial Valley, domestic wastewater reclamation, Federal acquisition

of water rights, geothermal, ground water, ground-water pumping

along the All-American Canal, high recovery, powerplant coolant, and

vegetative management. It is the purpose of this report to present

.

the findings of the Reject Stream Replacement Study to date as well

as establish a basis for the selection of the best of these 11 plans,

which will become the viable alternatives to be studied in the next,
more detailed, feasibility level of this investigation.

.

6
