<br />Almena Irrigation District diverted 6,697 ucre-fe<:!t from Proil~ie Dog
<br />Creek. The water users pumped 4,44.0 acre-ft:::et from irriyc::.tio:l \ve]ls as
<br />a supplemental supply to project lands. Thi::-. well watc-r coml:'ined with
<br />aVClilable project \...ater provided a full irriga.tion supply. 'l'he avera-ge
<br />crop yields \-.'ere the highest of the. 13 districts discussed in this rL!port.
<br />and the highest ever for the District. The 5,280 acres that were irrigated
<br />in 1975 produced a gross crop value of $1,837,493 ($348.01 per acre) _ This
<br />is 88% of the crop value for 1974.

<br />The City of Norton used 883 acre-feet to municipal water during 1975.

<br />1976 OUTLOOK
<br />
<br />The Almena Irrigation District. expects to deljver water to 5,300 acres if
<br />an adequate water supply is available. If 1976 is a dry year without sig-
<br />nificant rurl-off producing storms above Norton Reservoir, a requirement
<br />shortage of approxima.tely 11,000 acre-feet may be experienced. If normal
<br />inflow into t.he reservoir and normal rainfall ove1.- the irrigated area
<br />occur in ].976, a full water supply can be furnished the irrigation district
<br />lands from Norton stora.tj'e and prai.rie Dog Creek flows_
<br />
<br />The City of NQrton requil-ements are expected to be met in full in 1976.

<br />Harlan County Lake storage and Republican River Basin flows provide a pro-
<br />ject water supply for 22,787 acres in the Bostltlick Irrigation District in
<br />Nebraska, and 12, 77J_ acres in the Kansas-Bostwick Irrigation District ahove
<br />Lovewell Reservoir and r together wi th Whi te Rock. Creek flows ?lnd Lovewell
<br />Reservoir Storage, furnish a water supply for 27,329 acres below Lovewell
<br />Reservoir in the Kansas-Bostwick Irrigation District.
<br />
<br />The lands in the Franklin and Superior-Courtland Units are in the. Bostwick
<br />Irrigation District in Nebraska. The lands in the Courtland Unit are in
<br />the Kansas-Bostwick Irrigation District.
<br />
<br />As recommended by the Kansas State Board of Health, the Nebraska State
<br />Department of Health, and the U. S. Public Health Service, it is desirable,
<br />for the sanitary quality of the stream, to maintain daily flows of 40 cubic
<br />feet per second in the Republican River below Superior, Nebraska, from
