The water <br />supply was adequate for the diversion of 33,205 acre-feet for 16,633 acres <br />served by the Cambridge Cunal. <br /> <br />The 1975 gross crop value from the lands served by Meeker-Driftwood, <br />Bartley, Red Willow, and Cambridge Canals was $12,712,180, as compared to <br />$17,012,178 in 1974. <br /> <br />There were 56 acre-feet of storage water from Hugh Butler Lake sold under <br />temporary contracts to private irrigators in Red Willow valley. Also, <br />270 acre-feet of storage water from Harry Strunk Lake were sold to private <br />irrigators in MGdicine Creek valley. <br /> <br />1976 OUTLOOK <br /> <br />The carryover storage and 1976 flows are forecasted to furnish an adequate <br />water supply to irrigate 43,900 acres in the Frenchman-Cambridge IrrigcJ.tion <br />District. It is estimated that 16,200 acres will be served from the Meeker- <br />Driftwood Canal, 16,600 acres from the Cambridge Canal, 4,800 acres from <br />Red Willow Canal, and 6,300 acres f~om Bartley Canal. <br /> <br />ALMENA UNIT, KAi"ASKA DIVIS ION IN KANSAS <br /> <br />,..:.:,.., <br />./: .... <br /> <br />GENERAL <br /> <br />There are 5,350 acres with service available in the Almena Irrigation Dis- <br />trict, The project water supply is provided by Prairie Dog Creek flews <br />and Norton Reservoir storage. <br /> <br />The water service contract for the City of Norton, Kansas, provides for a <br />maximum annual use of I, GOO acre-feet from t~ort.oll Reservoir. <br /> <br />1975 SUMMARY <br /> <br />The dnnual precipitation at Norton Dam was 128 percent of normal. The <br />total 1975 inflow was slightly above the normal-year forecast. <br /> <br />Of the 1.64 acre-feet per acre of farm deliv8ry to 5,280 acres of Almena <br />Irrigation District land, 0.80 acre-feet per acre was available from <br />proj':lct water supply and the balance from privilte irrigation wells. <br /> <br />Heavy rains dUl-ing June 1975 above Nort.on Reservoir resulted in an inflow <br />more than double the normal June inflow, The reservoir elevation rose: <br />nearly 12 feet during the month.
